Police in Nairobi have arrested one of their officers, who was identified as Abel Mulati after he shot at a fellow officer, Hillary Korir.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Mr Mulati shot Mr Korir in order to secure the release of a vehicle Korir, who is a police officer, was inspecting.
“He (Mulati) fired one round to PC Korir but he missed the shot,” said DCI.
According to police, Mr Korir had stopped a 14-seater vehicle, which had no clearance from the Transport Licensing Board (TLB) and was escorting it to Pangani police station.
Along the way, Mulati, who was dressed in police uniform, stopped the vehicle, pulled Korir out and shot at him with an AK 47 rifle, and ordered the driver to take the vehicle away.
Police said Mulati will be taken to court, but did not specify when.
