Peter Kipyegon Kosgey, a former Kericho chief officer for Public Works, Roads and Transport in Kericho county has been arrested.
Arrested alongside Mr Kosgey are Joash Chirchir, who is a civil engineer, the Procurement Officer, Charles Mabwai, the Accountant, and Aaron Wahiaro Njoroge.
Also taken into custody are Stanley Ruto Cheruiyot, the Roads Inspector, Lilian Chepkech Kirui whom EACC described as Roads Inspector and a director of a company called Jawlink Logistics, and John Kimutai Rotich, also a director of Jawlink Logistics Limited.
Another suspect, Japheth Kipngeno, a director of Jawlink Logistics Limited was ordered to surrender to EACC.
According to EACC, the case relates to the award of Bae-Kapsimotwet Kibara road in Belgut within the county.
“The firm was neither prequalified by the County Government nor registered with the National Construction Authority,” the commission said in a statement.
The commission said one of the county officials involved in the tendering is also a director of Jawlink Logistics Limited, the company that was awarded the tender.
“The DPP issued consent to apprehend and charge eight (8) suspects under the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Act No. 3 of 2003 and violation of Procurement Laws,” said the commission.
The suspects will be arraigned in court tomorrow, Thursday 11, in Kericho.
